ST. LOUIS – The Missouri State Highway Patrol said they had 76 crashes reported in the St. Louis area Sunday evening.

From 3 to 9 p.m., Troop C of the MSHP said there were a total of 107 calls for service, 31 stranded drivers and four injuries in addition to the crashes. Troop C patrols Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, Perry, Pike, St. Charles, St. Francois, St. Louis, Ste. Genevieve, Warren and Washington counties.

A storm dropped snow and ice in the St. Louis area starting at around 3 p.m. MoDOT said it would not pre-treat roads because the precipitation was expected to melt when it hit the road, but it had crews on standby.

We have reached out to the Illinois State Police but have not heard back.
