MO man plays same lotto numbers for 8 years, wins twice

Daniel Flanagan poses with his winning Club Keno ticket

Daniel Flanagan has been playing the same lottery numbers for years-- 6, 17, 18, 26, 35, 41, 52, 66 and 71. He and his wife picked them out together eight years ago.

In April 2013, Flanagan won $1 million after correctly matching at five numbers in a Mega Millions drawing. His wife was able to retire from her job at that time, but Flanagan kept his job at a funeral home because he loves working there.

He also has another love-- playing lotto.

On August 31 of this year, he put his normal numbers on a 9-spot Double Bulls-Eye Club Keno wager, and matched eight of the numbers, winning a $40,000 prize.

“That’s my thrill: looking at the numbers as they come in on the screen. I was watching as they were coming in, and I thought, ‘Jiminy Christmas, that’s eight or nine of my numbers,’” recalled the two-time winner.

Flanagan originally thought he won $4,000 but was thrilled when the bartender told him about the $40,000 prize.

He plans to keep the prize a secret from his wife until he has a check in his hand, but says the prize will likely go toward home renovations including a new driveway.
