Maggie Reimer is back home in O'Fallon, Illinois, for the summer after hitting all the right shots in her first year of college.

"It went pretty well actually, grade-wise and basketball-wise,” Maggie says.

She's being modest. Maggie wrapped up her freshman year at St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana on the Dean’s list and led the basketball team in points and rebounds. While Maggie may downplay her success, her mother is certainly proud.

"Wow, really proud. I played when I was in high school, but I wasn't nearly as good as Maggie,” says Lisa Dedecker, Maggie’s Mom.

Maggie may be the one with the basketball skills, but she'll tell you there's no better role model than her mom.

"She's an amazing person that inspires me everyday,” says Maggie.

Lisa DeDecker spent 20 years as a flight nurse in the Air Force.

"I got to travel all over the world: Europe, Africa, Russia,” says Dedecker. “It was an amazing career."

Her career is why her daughter won the Folds of Honor Scholarship. It's given to spouses and children of those injured or killed in the military. The retired Lt. Colonel hurt her back in Desert Storm.

For the scholarship essay, Maggie wrote about her inspiration. A proud moment for this proud mom.

"Oh yeah, very cool,” says Dedecker.

What's also cool, Maggie wants to become a nurse just like her mom. And she's even thinking about a career in the Air Force. She'll get her shot thanks to Folds of Honor.

Here's another cool nugget to this story, when Maggie becomes a nurse she'll be the fourth person in her family to do so. Her grandmother, mother and sister are all nurses.

Schnucks “Round Up at the Register” begins May 23 and runs through the fourth of July. Starting Wednesday, shoppers will be able to round up at the register at all area Schnucks locations. When you pay for your groceries, you can round up that total and all proceeds will go to Folds of Honor.
