RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. -- Crews with Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District are cleaning up a sewage spill that is impacting parts of Richmond Heights and Maplewood.

According to MSD, crews found a blocked interceptor near the intersection of Claytonia Terrace and Lindbergh Drive that caused sewage to overflow into Claytonia Creek.

Cleanup efforts will take place through the week. The affected areas of the creek run through Lindbergh Park, Trolley Park, Kellogg Park and portions of Hampton Branch Creek.

MSD says there's no immediate threat to public health or safety. Warning signs have been posted at parts of the creek where people may come into contact with it.

Anyone who comes into contact with water from the creek should immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water.
