SUNSET HILLS, Mo. — Metropolitan Sewer District crews are at the Laumeier Sculpture Park cleaning a sewage spill.

A press release from MSD said a contractor for the city of Sunset Hills broke a water main and force main sewer Wednesday. When the MSD crew arrived, they found sewage was spewing into a nearby creek of the Meramec River that runs through the park.

The MSD pump station in the area was shut down so they could fix the break. The force main was fixed a few hours later, but the cleanup will continue for the next two days.

The press release said the spill poses no threat to public health or safety, but signs warning of the spill were posted in the park. The release said anyone coming into contact with the water in the creek or other affected areas should wash thoroughly with soap and water.
