Rene Knott signs new contract with 5 On Your Side

Since Rene began co-anchoring TISL with Allie Corey, the show has seen growth across all three hours.

ST. LOUIS - Today in St. Louis co-anchor Rene Knott signed a new contract with 5 On Your Side, which goes through January 2022.

Before moving to St. Louis, Rene spent 12 years doing sports at WJLA in Washington, D.C. In 2004, he was offered the position of sports director at KSDK in St. Louis, a place he calls “one of the most exciting sports towns in America.” He says it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. He led the sports department for 12 years before moving to news, becoming co-anchor of TISL in October 2016.

“Rene is committed to serving St. Louis by delivering better mornings alongside Allie Corey, Chester Lampkin, and Anthony Slaughter,” said President and General Manager Alicia Elsner. “Outside of his demanding schedule, he also serves local non-profits on a weekly basis by serving as emcee or auctioneer. His talent touches the community in front of the camera and behind the scenes.”

“To be a member of the 5 On Your Side team is an honor. So many great people have walked through our newsroom and onto our set over the years that it reads like a who’s who, and to be mentioned in the conversation is humbling,” said Rene.

Throughout his career Rene has earned three Emmys and covered many memorable stories, but he says the most exciting thing he’s done was travel to South Korea to cover the 2018 Winter Olympics.

“I got to see and do so much, and I felt being able to tell the stories of the athletes and culture was tremendous,” said Rene.

Since Rene began co-anchoring TISL with Allie Corey, the show has seen growth across all three hours, and according to Nielsen data, it’s the fastest-growing morning show in St. Louis.

“I consider our morning TISL team family. They’re some of the best people I know,” said Rene. “Another reason I love working in St. Louis is the people who live here. I enjoy telling their stories and getting to share their experiences.”

“Rene is one of the most genuine people I’ve had the pleasure of working with in my 25-year career as a journalist,” said News Director Tiffani Lupenski. “His passion – and compassion – for making St. Louis a better place to live are an inspiration to us all. We’re excited he’ll be sharing that passion with our TISL audience for many years to come.”
