Parents left looking for care after St. Louis preschools close

The Archdiocese says they're not facing money troubles, but it's more financially responsible to close the school.

AFFTON, Mo. — St. Mary's Preschool near Affton, Missouri, is the only stand-alone preschool owned and operated by the Department of Special Education in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. In August, the school will close.

The Archdiocese says they're not facing money troubles, but it's more financially responsible to close the school. About 50 children attended the school, including 10 with special needs.

Magnolia, an inclusive preschool in St. Louis' Tower Grove South neighborhood, also closed before Memorial Day. The executive director said they closed due to financial difficulties, leaving parents with even fewer options.

Now, parents said they're worried about more preschools closing and finding a new place for their young children to go to school.
