Power restored in Florissant as temperatures soar

Some residents in north county were without air conditioning for more than 15 hours.

Florissant, MO — FLORISSANT, Mo. – Thursday night storms sent a few trees to the ground in the Florissant area, according to Ameren Missouri.

The utility's website reported hundreds of people lost power. Several homes in a subdivision near the intersection of Shackelford and Humes were in the dark Thursday into Friday.

Ann Marie Aiello witnessed a part of her neighbor's tree come crashing down into her yard.

"I saw it fall, I was sitting at the kitchen table. It was about 6:45 p.m. There was things fallen on the roof, I started to get up and I saw the tree go,” she said.

The tree landed on power lines, cutting electricity to nearby homes.

Aiello kept cool by sleeping in her basement.

"The house stayed pretty cool since we don't have direct sunlight," Aiello said.

Ameren spent hours replacing a utility pole and restored service around 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
