2 men dead in 'probable' murder-suicide in west St. Louis County

Police said the incident happened on the parking lot outside Larry’s Tavern in Wildwood. They believe the men were involved in an altercation before the shooting.

WILDWOOD, Mo. — St. Louis County police are investigating the deaths of two men as a probable murder-suicide. It happened late Tuesday night in the parking lot of a business.

County police officers from the Wildwood Precinct received a call for a shooting at 11:35 p.m. in the 16800 block of Manchester Road. Police confirmed with 5 On Your Side that the incident happened on the parking lot outside Larry’s Tavern.

Officers arrived and found two men with what looked like gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

St. Louis County police immediately began investigating. At this time, they believe the men were involved in an altercation in the parking lot, and then the suspect shot the victim and then shot himself.

Wednesday afternoon St. Louis County police released the names of the men. Police said the victim has been identified as 40-year-old Jason Skiles of Hillsboro, Missouri. The suspect has been identified as 51-year-old Darren Jaycox of Wildwood, Missouri.

Bar patrons who came back to pick up their cars Wednesday morning said the two men were inside the bar before the altercation that happened in the parking lot.

Police said the investigation remains “very active at this time.”
