Steak 'n Shake in Overland reopens

Tuesday was the grand opening for Linda Metz, franchise owner of the Steak 'n Shake at 10459 Page. Metz is proud she's making steakburger history.

OVERLAND, Mo. — In 2019, 10 St. Louis-area Steak 'n Shake restaurants have closed since January. Longtime customers like Linda Wilson were frustrated.

"I’m like what is going on with Steak 'n Shake," said Wilson. "Steak 'n Shake’s been part of my life since I was a little girl and I’m an old lady."

While running an errand in Overland, Wilson saw that a once-closed restaurant had reopened.

"We came down the street to go to this office and all of a sudden I said 'that’s a Steak 'n Shake. It’s open."

"This was the first one to reopen from a closed location in the company. And so it's getting a lot of attention and I think St Louis is happy to have some Steak 'n Shakes back cause they've seen several of them closed," said Metz.

After more than a decade as an insurance agent, Metz finds herself managing staff and learning on the job.

"Now I've got a restaurant to run, 40, 50 employees that I have to take care of, make sure that we get the scheduling and, and just that everything is so brand new," said Metz. "So every day there's something new that I'm still learning."
