When St. Louis city left a neighborhood in the dark, the I-Team got results.
The issue was pitch black streets and a set of brand new street lights that didn't turn on.

The I-Team shined a light on the situation and got the city's attention.
But homeowners say the city's new solution has simply created another problem.

It's a nice place to live, when the lights work.

"It's beautiful ... And dark!" said Ella Scott a few weeks ago. Scott lives on Biddle and Carr in North St. Louis.

She complained to the I-Team about newly installed streets on her black.
They didn't light up and left her worried about her safety. Many of her neighbors, she said, are elderly.

"You hear gunfire. [Neighbors] are scared to come out to their car. They're being carjacked," said Scott.

Scott is right to be worried.

The I-Team found there have been several aggravated assaults, burglaries and auto thefts in the Carr and Biddle area in the past several months.

We took her concerns to the city and last week those dark lights finally lit up. Scott says city engineers arrived and were able to turn the lights on.

"It's a big concern for safety. We're having problems in the city anyway. Most of the people don't park in the front," said Scott.

She feels safer, but she is now dealing with a whole new problem. Those lights stay on 24 hours a day.

"We're paying for the one that are burning all day long," said Scott.

The I-Team is awaiting comment from the city on how and when it will return to Scott's neighborhood to fix those lights.
