‘This world lost a lot, when we lost Katie we lost a lot.’ | Family of Officer Katlyn Alix speaks first time since her death

Katlyn Alix's funeral was held Wednesday morning.

ST. LOUIS – The family of Katlyn Alix spoke Wednesday afternoon following their daughter’s funeral.

Katlyn Alix, 24, was fatally shot by one of her co-workers on Jan. 24. Nathaniel Hendren was charged Jan. 25 with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in her death.

Her funeral was held Wednesday morning.

Scott Rosenblum is representing the family. In a Wednesday press conference, Rosenblum said he’s looking into whether there is a civil case. He’s sent a letter to all parties involved to ensure all evidence is preserved.

Alix’s family said everybody that knew Katlyn, loved her. “Everybody that knew Katie loved Katie. Katie’s the best child, the best person.” Her mom, Aimee Chadwick said.

Alix’s mom said they’re still waiting for answers on their daughter’s death.

When asked about the rumors surrounding her death, Alix’s father said it hurts the family every time they hear the rumors. “She doesn’t deserve everything that’s being said about her it’s really hurtful to us every time we hear it on the TV and face to face,” Her dad, Ron Alix said.
