Man charged with murder after woman found shot to death, standoff in Cedar Hill

The couple's son also showed up on scene and was detained for a short time.

CEDAR HILL, Mo. – A man is in custody after a six-hour standoff in Cedar Hill Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the 8400 block of Eastview around 5:50 a.m. for a report of shots fired. Once on scene, they found a man, 62-year-old Steven Treece, standing over a woman’s dead body. Crisis negotiators stayed on scene for several hours. The woman is believed to be the man's wife.

The couple's son also showed up on scene and was detained for a short time.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Treece was taken into custody ‘peacefully’ and the investigation continues.

Treece was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and two counts unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bond.
