A young father was killed in a car crash, just days before his wedding. Now, his family wants answers about what caused the deadly chain reaction.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol three vehicles were involved in this crash. A tractor-trailer driver left the scene without stopping, but he has now contacted authorities.

Chad Moore, 29, was a full time father, busy making plans for his wedding Monday. But on Wednesday, his family had to begin planning his funeral instead.

Moore was on his way to meet his best man on Monday when investigators say a tractor-trailer crossed into his lane on eastbound I-270 near Hwy 367. Somehow Moore and the car next to him collided into the median, and Moore was thrown from the vehicle and killed.

Crash reports show the driver of that tractor-trailer continuing eastbound on I-270, leaving the scene of the accident.

Now, Moore's family wants to know why the driver left the scene, and what part he played in the deadly crash.

“All he had to do was look in his review mirror and see a major crash in back of him. Oh yeah, definitely, I think the tractor trailer driver knew what happened,” said Mark Moore, Chad’s father.

Moore's family now worries for his fiancé and 3-month-old daughter, who are devastated by his death.

“It scares me and worries me to death because they don't have any money. They were dirt poor. They were living with me. I'm going to miss him, he was my only son,” said Mark Moore.

It will be up to the St. Louis County Prosecutor's office to decide if charges will be filed against the tractortrailer driver.

He will be issued a summons.

The family has a GoFundMe site set up. You can find it here.
