Entrepreneur Michael Seaman is taking advantage of St. Louis' startup scene.

As the co-founder and CEO of SwipeSum, a platform that helps merchants navigate the mess of credit card processing and its related services and fees, Seaman moved the company from Los Angeles to St. Louis in January.

“As soon as I got to St. Louis, I saw that people from here are so passionate about the city,” Seaman said. “It’s a very hard-working and tight-knit community, so I realized if we moved here, we could actually achieve our goals.”

SwipeSum is free for merchants, but the company does have affiliate relationships with some processors and receives a commission on those deals. In addition, the company serves as a consultant to help merchants receive the best possible credit card processing rates. The company also offers additional paid services, like statement audits, integration assistance and fraud protection, Seaman said.
