Memphis man arrested for having $1.5M worth of meth disguised as piñata candy

A Memphis man is caught in Alabama with 80 pounds of meth disguised as candy from a pinata!

BIRMINGHAM, Al. (WREG) - A Memphis man is arrested in Alabama after allegedly being caught with more than 80 pounds of methamphetamine disguised as Mexican candy.

On Thursday, James Robert Fields was reportedly driving erratically on Interstate 59 when he was pulled over by a Jefferson County police.

Officers were eventually given permission to search Fields' car for drugs. That's when they discovered dozens of bags of what appeared to be Mexican candy that you typically see in pinatas.

However, when inspected closer, officers noticed it wasn't candy.

It was meth. Fields is being charged with trafficking meth. His bond is set at $200,000. According to WREG, AL.com reported that Fields had an estimated $1.5 million worth of illegal drugs in the trunk of his car.
