MetroLink promotes healthy cooking and eating

Each month, riders will be able to watch a cooking demonstration at one of the Metrolink stops.

ST. LOUIS – MetroLink riders can now learn how to prepare easy and healthy meals.

Each month, riders will be able to watch a cooking demonstration at one of the Metrolink stops.

The demos are put on by a nutritionist at the University of Missouri Extension.

On Wednesday, they were out at the North Hanley Transit Center making a breakfast vegetable hash.

All the ingredients they cook with are items that riders can buy at the Link Markets.

“We’ve been doing some recipes with their pantry products like pastas and spaghettis sauces and some of their canned vegetable products,” Leslie Bertsch, a Registered Dietician with the University of Missouri Extension said. “I tell people that if I can make this outside like camping style, you can do it at home as well.”

A copy of the recipes can be picked up at any of the cooking demonstrations.

The Link Market kiosks are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
