ST. LOUIS — Emmy Award-winning anchor and reporter Kay Quinn has signed a new contract with 5 On Your Side, and is celebrating her 30th year at the station and 38th year in broadcasting.
Since starting at 5 On Your Side in 1989, Kay has played a fundamental role since the beginning, telling the stories that matter most to the community.
“I’m excited to continue my long relationship with 5 On Your Side, and I’d like to thank our viewers, whose loyalty and trust have allowed me to deliver the news and be part of their lives for all these years,” said Kay. “Our viewers are literally part of my family. Connecting with them, and serving them has been my focus every day I’ve walked in the door at 5 On Your Side.
Kay has reported on many topics throughout the years, often conducting high-profile interviews, including with NPR broadcaster Diane Rehm, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Arizona Senator John McCain, and former First Lady Barbara Bush.
But what Kay is best known for in St. Louis is her work on the health beat, covering some of the latest advances in medicine, special reports on cancer, and creating a long-standing series called “Ask the Doctor.”
“St. Louis is blessed to be home to so many great medical facilities, including two research hospitals,” said Kay. “It’s been a labor of love to be able to tell the stories of the patients who visit them, and the amazing work of the doctors and staff who work in them.”
Kay’s hard work has earned her much recognition over the years, including the American Heart Association’s Eugene Field Award for television reporting, a Spirit of Maryville Dean’s Award from Maryville University, the Molina Healthcare Community Champions Award, and the 2009 Quest Award from the Missouri Professional Communicators, an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women.

Kay was born in San Jose, California, grew up in Honolulu, and lived in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for several years before moving to St. Louis. Her interest in journalism grew from her father’s career in sports management. She started her broadcasting career at radio stations in Vancouver, and moved to St. Louis in 1985.
