Josh Hawley will run against incumbent U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill in the 2018 election.

A new poll from a Massachusetts college has the contest for Claire McCaskill's Senate seat tied, with 45 percent supporting the incumbent and 45 percent supporting Republican challenger Josh Hawley, the state's attorney general.

Eleven percent are undecided, according to the Emerson College poll, conducted from April 26 to 29 and with a "credibility interval" of plus or minus 2.3 percent. Six hundred people participated.

It said Hawley is likely to win the Republican primary because he has 37 percent support, while challengers Austin Petersen (8 percent) and Courtland Sykes (6 percent) are far behind. That part of the poll has a credibility interval of plus or minus 6 percent, according to Emerson, which said 283 Republican primary voters participated.
