3 SLU basketball players suspended, 1 expelled after sexual misconduct investigation

The incidents were reported on Sept. 24, 2017 after three women reported they were sexually assaulted by student-athletes in on-campus apartments at Saint Louis University.

ST. LOUIS – Three St. Louis University basketball players have been suspended following an ongoing criminal investigation, according to the lawyer representing the players.

On Friday, Scott Rosenblum said all three of his clients have been suspended – one player for a year and a half and two players for two years. A fourth player Rosenblum doesn’t represent has been expelled.

Rosenblum said the result doesn't surprise him, saying that he believes the investigation was "tainted from the begining."

"I think St. Louis University's conduct has been deplorable in this case," he said. "I think the way they've treated these boys, both in the delays, both in the type of investigation, the fact they looked for outside counsel from Philadelphia to conduct an investigation."

The incidents were reported on Sept. 24, 2017 after three women reported they were sexually assaulted by student-athletes in on-campus apartments at Saint Louis University.

St. Louis Metropolitan police officers were requested to a hospital to investigate after the three women reported they were victims of a sexual assault.

SLU used Philadelphia-based law firm Cozen O'Connor to conduct the Title IX investigation.

Rosenblum said he, his clients and their families are considering all options, including appeal. They have three days to decide whether or not to move forward with an appeal.

St. Louis attorney John Rogers represents the fourth basketball player who was accused in this case. He could not be reached for comment Friday.
