Blues select center Nikita Alexandrov in second round of NHL Draft

The Blues lost their first round pick this year in the Ryan O'Reilly trade (we think that worked out), but took an 18-year-old center with their second round pick.

The Blues selected German-born center Nikita Alexandrov with their first selection in the 2019 NHL Draft.

The Blues lost their first round pick in the trade that brought Ryan O'Reilly to town from the Sabres. (We think that worked out alright)

Alexandrov is just 18, and has been playing with the Charlottetown Islanders in the QMJHL in Canada.

Alexandrov had 27 goals and 34 assists in 64 games with Charlottetown this past season.

Here's a look at Alexandrov in action.

The Blues have had a knack for drafting talented forwards in recent years.

Robert Thomas, Sammy Blais, Ivan Barbashev were integral parts of the 2019 Stanley Cup championship team, and Jordan Kyrou is still expected to be a major offensive threat going forward.
