The Cardinals have made their first deal of the winter meetings in Las Vegas, dealing infielder Patrick Wisdom to the Texas Rangers for utilityman Drew Robinson.
Robinson, a left-handed hitter, hit .183 with 3 home runs and 9 RBI's in 109 at-bats with Texas in 2018.
Wisdom had been with the Cardinals since he was drafted by the team in 2012.
Mostly playing as a third baseman, Wisdom hit .260 with 4 home runs and10 RBI's in his first stint in the majors last season.
The Cardinals had been prioritizing a left-handed utility player this offseason, after the club made the blockbuster trade for Diamondbacks slugger, Paul Goldschmidt.
The club is still expected to pursue a backup catcher, as well as back end bullpen help while in Vegas for the winter meetings.
