ST. LOUIS – A Billiken is getting his chance in the NBA.

Javon Bess will join the New Orleans Pelicans for training camp and try to crack the team’s final roster.

According to The Athletics’ Shams Charania, Bess agreed to an undrafted free-agent deal with the Pelicans. Bess likely will play with the Pelicans in the 2019 NBA Summer League, which begins July 5, SLU said.

Bess averaged 15.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game with Saint Louis University in the 2018-19 season. He helped lead the Billikens to a conference title.

The Billikens won the A-10 championship and made it to the NCAA tournament.
