(KSDK) - We have an update on one of our local Olympians. You may remember Deanna Price from Lincoln County, Missouri. She competed in the Rio Olympics in 2016.
Deanna is now the American record holder in women's hammer throw. She tossed her record-setting throw of 77.65m (254 ft. 9 in.) at a competition in Idaho this weekend. Her coach J.C. Lambert, shared video of the throw. Also new since the Rio Olympics - J.C. and Deanna are engaged.
And her former coach from Lincoln County, Gary Cooper, says Deanna’s throw puts her 5th on the all-time world ranking.
“2020 Japan is looking brighter,” said Cooper of her chances of making the next Summer Olympics.
