ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals were named to Forbes list of 50 most valuable sports teams in the world.

The Cardinals barely made the list, tying with the Kansas City Chiefs for the No. 47 spot. Forbes estimated the team's value at $2.1 billion, an 11% increase from 2018.

The team did not make the list in 2018 but was on the list in both 2016 and 2017. Their highest rank was in 2016 when they were No. 27 with a $1.4 billion valuation.

When compared to other MLB teams, the Cardinals are the seventh most valuable behind the Yankees(No. 2 overall), Dodgers(No. 10), Red Sox(No.12), Cubs(No. 14), Giants(No. 18) and Mets(No. 38).

The list, as usual, is dominated by the NFL, with 26 of the league's 32 teams making the list, and the Dallas Cowboys leading the way with a $5 billion valuation.
