Cardinals get home-field advantage in NLCS after Nationals defeat Dodgers

Game 1 of the NLCS will be at Busch Stadium Friday night.

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals now know who, when and where they will be playing in the Nationals League Championship Series.

After bludgeoning the Braves with a 10-run first inning, and finishing off the game with a 13-1 win, the Cardinals earned their spot in the NLCS. But before they could hop on a plane, they had to figure out where they would be headed.

Just before midnight, the Washington Nationals put the finishing touches on an upset victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 7-3, extra-inning victory in Game 5.

Since the Nationals knocked off the Dodgers, the Cardinals are homeward bound. As the NL Central Champions, they will hold home-field advantage against the NL Wild Card Nationals.

Game 1 of the NLCS will be in St. Louis Friday night at 7:08. The rest of the series is as follows:

  • Game 2 in St. Louis Saturday at 3:08
  • Game 3 in Washington Monday, time TBD
  • Game 4 in Washington Tuesday, time TBD
  • Game 5 in Washington Wednesday, time TBD*
  • Game 6 in St. Louis Friday, Oct. 18, time TBD*
  • Game 7 in St. Louis Saturday, Oct. 19, time TBD*

*Games 5, 6 and 7 are only if necessary
