CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – Several teachers in the Parkway School District received quite the surprise from a Cardinals player Monday morning.
Matt Carpenter surprised teachers at Parkway Central Middle School ahead of the school year.
Carpenter’s parents were both teachers. His mom was an elementary school teacher and moved on to be a principal, she’s now retired. His dad still coaches high school baseball.
“I think that the teachers and coaches of this country are some of the most special people,” Carpenter said.
Academy Sports and Outdoors teamed up with Carpenter to surprise the teachers with $100 Academy gift cards to prepare them for the new school year.
