WASHINGTON, D.C. — Despite his hopeful talk of a potential comeback, Terrell Owens isn’t even ready for the Canadian Football League, much less the NFL.

That’s the view of Chris Jones, the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders who on Sunday worked out Owens near Chattanooga, Tenn., according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

That's right, a day after Owens' induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the 44-year-old wide receiver was working out at the direction of a CFL coach.

"He’s got some football-shape stuff that he’s going to have to get into," Jones, who doubles as the Roughriders' general manager, told the Chattanooga Times Free Press. "He caught the football well today, he got in and out of his breaks decent. Football-wise he’s got a ways to go."

The Edmonton Eskimos recently relinquished the CFL rights to Owens, allowing the six-time NFL Pro Bowler to negotiate with other CFL teams, Yahoo! Sports reported.

"I know I'm truly blessed and I can still play the game," Owens told the Times Free Press after the workout. "What I did out there today is just a small little snippet of what I can do. ...

"It's key when you're trying out to put your best foot forward, and I'm very pleased with what they saw and what I did out there. To be inducted into the Hall of Fame and come back and play, why not me? I know I can do it. It's just a matter of someone giving me the opportunity."

Owens played his last full NFL season in 2010 as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks before the 2012 season but was cut three weeks later.
