ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — One lane of the ramp from Hanley Road to I-64 eastbound in the Brentwood/Richmond Heights area of St. Louis County is back open.

A view from the scene showed an entire section of the shoulder washed down a hill next to The Heights fitness center in Richmond Heights.

MoDOT crews closed the ramp leading to the interstate for hours but reopened one lane at around 4:15.

It’s unclear what led to the issue, but the pavement did collapse after several hours of rain Monday morning.

The ramp is expected to be limited to one lane for an extended period of time that will extend at least until Wednesday. MoDOT said it is working on an emergency contract to fix the issue.

A driver in the area is happy no one got hurt.

"That's terrifing knowing that I'm always driving on that road," Emily Blazevic said. "Such a busy road. accidents always happen there. People are always there. I can't imagine what would have happened."
