ST. CLAIR COUNTY — We have a traffic alert for anyone who uses the Martin Luther King Bridge.
The bridge will be closed beginning August 27 for extensive repairs to the ramps and roadways leading to the bridge, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Friday.
The closure is expected to last through early fall of 2019.
IDOT also said during the closure, there will be four weekend closures of the southbound/westbound lanes of Interstate 55/64 and two nighttime closures of I-55/64.
IDOT expects extensive delays in the area and urged drivers to use alternate routes including the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge on Interstate 70.
