MoDOT shows off plan to make Highway 94 safer

Work is scheduled to begin this summer and be completed by fall.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — MoDOT held an open house Wednesday to show neighbors the plans for changes to the intersection of Highway 94 and South Breeze.

Since 2016, there have been 21 crashes at the intersection. Five of those crashes injured 11 people and a nearby resident of Breeze Park was killed in one of them.

MoDOT's plan will eliminate cross traffic from South Breeze, allowing only right turns while drivers will still be able to make left turns from Highway 94.

Bill Kellenberger is a resident of Breeze Park and says it would be cheaper to install a stoplight at the intersection. MODOT says there isn't enough traffic and instead will install J lanes to reduce the number of serious crashes.

Work is scheduled to begin this summer and be completed by fall.
