ST. LOUIS — A portion of I-44 will be closed from May 31 to June 3.
According to MoDOT, all eastbound and westbound I-44 lanes between I-270 and Geyer Road will be closed to remove the westbound Route 366 Watson Road bridge over I-44.
The I-44 closures will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31 and all lanes will be closed by 8 p.m.
The westbound Route 366 bridge will also close at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Westbound I-44 drivers will be able to continue west by taking the I-270 exit and using the westbound Watson ramp located after the bridge.
During the closure, eastbound I-44 drivers wanting to continue east can take Watson Road then turn on Lindbergh and take it back to eastbound I-44.
The bridge will remain closed for five months for rebuilding. According to MoDOT, drivers should continue to use Lindbergh to access westbound I-44 and northbound and southbound I-270 during the construction.
All I-44 lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 3.
After reopening, westbound I-44 lanes will remain as they are now. Eastbound I-44 will be re-striped with two lanes and one lane each for both northbound and southbound I-270 ramps.
Crews need this room to construct the bridge and complete drainage and pavement work between the Meramec River and I-270.
