Traffic lights malfunctioning in O'Fallon, Missouri

MODOT is working to repair the traffic signals.

O'FALLON, Mo. — O’Fallon, Missouri police are encouraging motorists to avoid the intersection of Route K at Highway 364 due to malfunctioning signals.

The stoplight signal box was damaged in the weather on Saturday and is not working properly. As a result, lights are flashing red.

O’Fallon police say the control box is managed by MODOT and their crews are working to repair it. Until then, law enforcement officers will be manually directing traffic.

“The patience of motorists has resulted in no accidents at this location. We encourage all travelers in the area to show the same patience and caution until the repair is complete,” O’Fallon police said in a statement.

MoDOT told 5 On Your Side Monday it is waiting on a part for the light that could take several days to arrive. Due to the storms, parts and staffing shortages, they're taking longer to repair a number of malfunctioning lights in the area, MoDOT said.
