Few storms possible this afternoon

Much cooler air slides in Saturday night with a cold front, dropping temperatures into the 30s overnight.

ST. LOUIS - After a round of severe thunderstorms last night, a few more strong storms are possible for parts of the area before things quiet down for the rest of the weekend.

1-3" of rain fell across the bi-state Friday night, and there were reports of wind damage southwest of St. Louis. Trees and power lines came down in Salem, St. Clair, and Steelville, and a carport was destroyed by damaging winds in Cedar Hill.

A few strong storms may pop up ahead of the cold front in Illinois this afternoon, although the severe risk is quite low compared to Friday.

The main threat with any storms that develop this afternoon will be small hail.

After reaching daytime highs in the upper 60s to near 70, we tumble into the upper 30s to around 40 overnight. There could be some wrap-around precipitation into Sunday, and it will be a cold day with highs only in the low 40s around the region.
