ST. LOUIS — Storms have fired up across the Midwest, triggering severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings from regional National Weather Service offices.
The storms are generating heavy downpours and significant lightning strikes. Driving will be hazardous as the storms pass over.
Most of the 5 On Your Side coverage area is under either a "slight" or "moderate" risk for dangerous severe weather Sunday night into Monday morning.
The main threat will be damaging wind gusts, similar to what blasted through parts of western St. Louis County and St. Charles County Saturday afternoon.
Damaging hail and brief, isolated tornadoes are also possible.
By Monday morning, the big storms will have tapered off. A few showers and storms will linger through the day.
