ST. LOUIS — The heavy snow is here!

The snow will continue through the evening and will be heavy at times. You could wake up Saturday morning with 5" to 9" of snow on the ground.

Travel conditions are really bad already and will only get worse tonight. Snow will continue Saturday morning but may break up from time-to-time later in the day.

Snow should decrease Saturday evening, and the last of the light snow or flurries is expected to taper off Sunday morning.

High temperatures through the weekend will be in the low to mid-30s, so some we could see some mixed precipitation as well, mainly south of St. Louis. If there is any rain or mixed precipitation with the snow, snow totals will be a bit lower.

Updated Snow Totals

In general, weekend snow totals will range from 8" to 12" around the metro area. A few spots could get more than a foot of snow. Lighter amounts are expected farther south.

Looking ahead to Monday morning

Temperatures are expected to dip into the teens. So, any areas that are slushy or wet Sunday evening will likely freeze solid early Monday. We will have to monitor that situation closely.
