Some of the thunderstorms are expected to be strong to severe with the Storm Prediction Center targeting areas south and east of St. Louis with the greatest risk.
The storms will likely be on the increase around lunchtime.
While clouds will limit how warm it actually gets, there will be enough support for some of the storms to produce hail and/or damaging winds.
Current trends show the strongest storms sinking south of the metro area by or during the evening rush hour.
The severe threat will diminish overnight on Wednesday, with just a few lingering areas of light rain.
