On July 11, 2008, Apple release the iPhone 3G.
The 3G featured iPhone OS 2.0. The new operating system introduced Apple's App Store.
The iPhone 3Gs was released on June 19, 2009. The 3GS featured a news 3 MP camera with higher resolution and video capability.
The iPhone 4 was released on June 24, 2010.
The iPhone 4 was the first iPhone with a front-facing camera and FaceTime. Additionally, the iPhone 4 introduced multitasking functionality with iOS4.
The iPhone 4s was released on Oct. 14, 2011.
The 4s introduced the world the Siri, Apple's personal assistant.
The iPhone 5 was released on Sept. 21, 2012.
The iPhone 5 featured an aluminum-based body and a taller screen than previous models.
The iPhone 5s was released on Sept. 20, 2013. The 5s featured the first 64-bit processor in a smartphone. It also introduced Touch ID, a fingerprint recognition system.
The iPhone 5c was also released on Sept. 20, 2013. The 5c featured a polycarbonate shell instead of aluminum and was available in several colors. The 5c was sold at a lower price point than the 5s.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were released on Sept. 19, 2014.
The 6 and 6 Plus featured a faster processor, improved camera and introduced Apple Pay.
From left, the iPhone 6S Plus, 6S and SE were first introduced in late 2015. The 6s updated the internal hardware and added a 12-MP camera. The SE served as a successor to the 5s.
The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were released on Sept. 16, 2016. The iPhone 7 models featured new hardware updates and an updated 12 MP rear-facing camera. Notably, Apple removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
