The author Ed Wheatley has written other books about St. Louis sports teams, but this is the first one for children. Since there's a lot of books on the Cardinals, he wanted to find something unique to center the book around and he found just that- the left field wall where all the heroes are painted. The book is illustrated by Ed Koehler. Kids will learn about Red Schoendienst, a player who could do everything- he was not just a manager. Kids will also learn about the time Stan Musial hit 5 home runs in one day. Since the book is about legends, it brings back memories for parents and grandparents while making new ones for young fans.
