CAHOKIA, Ill. — An investigation is underway after a man was killed in a crash following a burglary in Cahokia early Wednesday morning.
Around 12:30 a.m., police got a call for a robbery at ZX Mobile Mart along Route 3. After officers spotted the suspect’s car, the man drove off going north on Route 3.
Police followed the suspect and attempted to stop him, but the man hit a barrier, lost control and the car flipped over the side of the bridge and hit the ground below.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Illinois State Police is investigating.
