Wentzville plumber facing new sex charges

A St. Charles County plumber charged earlier this month with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy was charged with 11 new counts for similar crimes Monday.

Daniel Hallmark has been accused of sex crimes against a 13-year-old boy.

A St. Charles County plumber charged earlier this month with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy was charged with 11 new counts for similar crimes Monday.

Court documents from four new cases said Daniel Hallmark, owner of Hallmark Plumbing, is charged with numerous counts of sodomy and deviant sexual assault, among other crimes.

Investigators said Hallmark’s victims are boys ranging in age from 13-to-18 and there are likely more still out there.

“This is a child predator that's extremely dangerous. he's dangerous around children and we need to keep him behind bars,” said Wentzville police chief Kurt Frisz.

Investigators said Hallmark would commit the crimes inside his home after building a relationship with his victims. They said Hallmark would often offer his victims work with his company, he would buy them gifts and befriend the boys' parents.

“It's very, very typical of child predator tactics that they use to get to their targets,” said Frisz.

Police were able to establish a pattern of abuse linking all four new cases. They also said Hallmark's computer and cell phone were found to have possibly hundreds of images, addresses and text messages of other boys who have yet to be identified.

The St. Charles County Prosecutor will be presented with a fifth new case later this week.

Based on the new cases, investigators believe Hallmark's alleged crimes may go back as far as a decade.
They're asking people to call if they believe Hallmark may have had inappropriate contact with their child.

Investigators working the case are Sgt. Cindy Aubuchon who can be reached at 636-639-2129 and Det. Andy Wessel who can be reached at 636-639-2122.
