ST. LOUIS – Would you know what to do if one side of your face drooped?

If you had trouble lifting one arm?

If you or someone close to you had slurred speech?

Would you know to call 9-1-1 immediately?

Those are all symptoms of a stroke. This is not just a disease of old people. Strokes are happening more often in younger people, and May is Stroke Awareness Month.

St. Louisan Kathy Howard was 55 when she had a stroke. That was 10 years ago. After her experience, she went on to found ABC Brigade, a support and advocacy group for stroke survivors.

Hear what symptoms she had that made her go to the hospital.

And hear why Dr. Randall Edgell, an interventional neurologist at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital wants you to call 911 at the first sign of a stroke.
