LITCHFIELD, Ill. – Police are investigating after a body was found near Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield.
In a Thursday afternoon press conference, Illinois State Police spokesman Calvin Brown said they have no reason to believe the body is that of missing woman Denita Hedden, but the investigation is ongoing.
Brown said the ISP was called at around 4:45 Wednesday evening and asked to investigate a body found near the lake. He said a utility worker was clearing brush near the lake when he spotted the body about 100 yards from the lake's shoreline.
He said the ISP and Litchfield Police Department searched the area for more clues until dark, then again Thursday morning. Everything found during the search was turned over to the ISP's forensics lab.
Brown said they do not have a timeframe for the completion of this investigation.
