Man killed in accident at north county golf club

The University of Missouri St. Louis Police Department said officers responded to an incident at the golf club that resulted in the death of a grounds crew member.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man died at a north St. Louis County golf club Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews responded to Normandie Golf Club at 7605 St. Charles Rock Road around 11 a.m.

The University of Missouri St. Louis Police Department said officers responded to an incident at the golf club that resulted in the death of a grounds crew member. The person has not been identified.

Witnesses told 5 On Your Side they saw a man pinned under a mower near a creek on the course.

No other information has been released.

Walters Golf Management, which operates the golf course, released the following statement:

It is with deep sorrow that we, at Walters Golf Management, extend our heartfelt condolences for the tragic death of an employee today at Normandie Golf Club, one of the facilities we operate. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his immediate and extended family. We are unaware of the circumstances surrounding this regrettable accident. An investigation has commenced and until that investigation is complete we will have no further comment. Please know our sincere sympathies are extended to all involved.
