Police pursuit ends in crash in north St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS – A man was taken into custody after a police pursuit ended in a crash Friday evening.

Around 5:35 p.m., while police officers were patrolling the area of Green Valley Drive and Bella Clare Drive, they saw a suspicious vehicle, a truck, parked at Midwest Petroleum at 1955 Chambers Drive.

One officer tried to make contact with the driver of the truck but after she parked her car and began to get out, the driver of the truck rammed her police car.

The truck attempted to flee the area when another police officer began perusing it.

The pursuit ended shortly after when the truck ran a red light and hit another car.

The driver of the truck, a 27-year-old man, was taken into custody and suffered minor injuries in the accident. There was one other adult and four children in the truck at the time of the incident who also suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the other car involved in the accident, a woman, suffered minor injuries as well.

One police officer was injured in the incident and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the truck was taken in a carjacking in Illinois on March 12.
