ST. CHARLES, Mo. — A tractor trailer full of hot dogs spilled its load on I-70 in St. Charles County Friday afternoon, closing lanes and causing a massive traffic jam for hours.
The crash happened at about 1 p.m. in the eastbound lanes at Zumbehl Road. All eastbound lanes were closed for about two-and-a-half hours. Within 90 minutes, traffic backed up at least 10 miles down the interstate.

Drivers stuck in the traffic jam complained to KSDK that it smelled like rotten hot dogs. Missouri State High Patrol officials confirmed that--in fact--the truck was carrying hot dogs.
Crews could be seen spraying down the interstate with water.
