Woman jumps up on S.C. school bus while kids are inside

Officers got a call of an 'unruly woman,' and then wound up having to drag her off the vehicle.

Richland County, SC (WLTX) - There were some scary moments aboard a Richland County school bus Wednesday morning when a woman suddenly jumped onto the vehicle, then wouldn't get down.

Richland County deputies say the incident happened around 7:20 a.m. in the 700 block of Bitternut Drive, which is near Lower Richland Boulevard.

Video taken from the scene shows the woman hanging onto the side of the bus. The call came in to deputies as an 'unruly female.'

"I was walking outside taking my trash can to the road," said a witness. "I saw the bus stopped right there and lady standing like she was about to get on the bus and I didn't think anything of it."

An incident report states the woman removed the tag from the bus and stood in front of it. She then climbed on the hood and the window.

Officers say she hung onto the side for about an hour.

"The bus stop is all the way back there, and the bus was here, just sitting with the lights on and cars going around it," the witness told News19.

Eventually, officers were able to drag her off the car and take her into custody. Seven students from Caughman Road Elementary were on the bus, but none of them were hurt in any way. The students were eventually transported to school on another bus.

Officers say she was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. Deputies say she possibly had mental health issues.

Officers are still determining if charges will be filed.,
