O'FALLON, Mo. — Police fatally shot a barricaded subject after a standoff in O'Fallon, Missouri, Saturday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Brian Harr with the O'Fallon Police Department, police responded to an assault call at 2:35 p.m. in the 700 block of Longfellow Circle.

Police arrived to find that a 32-year-old man and his father were involved in an altercation and the suspect was armed. He threatened his parents and when the father tried to disarm him, the handgun was discharged several times into the ground, according to a press release.

Police said the parents left the residence unharmed.

The 32-year-old then barricaded himself inside the home. A SWAT team and negotiators were called to the scene.

According to Lt. Thomas Wilkison, three O'Fallon police officers, a St. Peters police officer and a St. Charles police officer fired at the man when he shot at police. None of the officers were injured.

On Sunday, the St. Charles Police Department identified the man as Taylor Lee Shomaker, 32, of St. Charles.

No other injuries were reported to the surrounding neighbors in the area.

Police staged at St. Dominic High School for the incident, but the high school was not involved.

There was no active threat to the public, Harr said.
