KSDK -- Two fire trucks collided while responding to a house fire in north St. Louis, injuring eight firefighters.

Fire officials said that one fire truck was traveling east on MLK and the other was traveling north on Taylor when the accident happened.

Witnesses said the northbound fire truck t-boned the other. That truck spun around and turned over on its side. The northbound truck then struck a car, damaging both vehicles.

The fire trucks were responding to a nearby building fire at Newstead and Aldine.

An employee at a nearby barber shop came to the rescue of some of the eight firefighters who were transported to emergency rooms. "One guy looked like he broke his leg, another guy had a gash in his head, one guy looked like his neck was broke, and one guy went through the windshield," said barber Reggie Love.

Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson said all of the firefighters are expected to recover and did not suffer any life-threatening injuries. Chief Jenkerson said he does not know what went wrong.
