Source: Obama Administration sought to replace U.S. Attorney Hanaway

KSDK -- St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch was asked to be the new US Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, replacing Catherine Hanaway at the post, sources tell NewsChannel 5.

According to the sources, McCulloch, a Democrat, turned down the post to stay prosecuting attorney for the county.

Hanaway, a Republican, is a former Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives. She was sworn in as US Attorney in April 2006.
